Empowerment Of Women, Showing Great Power Despite Any Problems
With the pandemic, plans are
cancelled, opportunities are ruined, and chances are not achieved. Yet, these
empowered women refuse to back down. Before, when women were seen as fragile or
weak, they have evolved over the years and showed that women can and will do
great things and changes as well. They created ways and paths for themselves
despite what society told them not to. That even with the discouragement and
criticism from others, they still wanted to prove that greatness is not seen in
the gender. With the ongoing pandemic, some actions are restricted. How are
women showcasing their empowerment during the pandemic? As we know, this
pandemic is a battle, more so mentally. People are getting anxious that life seems
to be stuck, they get depressed by cancelling important plans and factors in
their life, they are getting sad by not being able to see friends and family –
they are getting tortured silently. The pandemic situation and school closures
have increased an already high burden of care and work for women. These are
impacting women’s physical and mental health. However, women such as mom’s or
even front liners, are doing their best to comfort these people. Mothers are
considered as the light of homes, as they light up the family’s life even
during the darkest of times – “Ilaw ng Tahanan” as they call it. Especially now
that life seems to be stuck and dark during the pandemic, they are the ones
lifting the spirits of their children, assuring their husbands. The empathy for
others and their willingness to help is their trait. That despite tough times
and how their spirits may lower, they still set a strong mindset and find the
positive in every problem. Of course, there are still some unfortunate
happenings. Even before, discrimination on gender, most especially women, is
still happening in the present. That women are getting harassed and
disrespected based on factors that are not their fault. Society wants gender
equality, but does not do the most work to achieve this. Despite this, women
all around the world, have come together in different ways and different types
of groups to offer support to each other. They worked together to show society
that they got disrespected once, but will show their strength and worth not
only twice, but as many times if they have to. These women are encouraging
other people to see the greatness of everyone, and not just based on their
gender and appearance. They are the breaking the stereotype society has on
gender. Showing perseverance and not getting swayed by unexpected hurdles like
the pandemic, and still showing power and a good heart despite other people
trying to bring you down, encouraging others to do the same and make them see
their worth – that is empowerment.
As we face various challenges, this
is not a reason for us to give up, rather this is a chance for us to show our
true worth and strength. These types of challenges are what makes us grow and
empower the strength within us that are yet to show. Times where discrimination
hinders some people, and how the pandemic limits our chances, this will only
show the true perseverance of those people affected. When we say empowered
women, we think of those who have a strong mindset, those who despite tough
times, they show that they will keep going even if their spirits may go down.
Fighting for your worth while encouraging other to do the same – this is what
empowerment is. We can’t deny the amount of hardships and contribution women
did for our society. They have opened the eyes of society and made them see
that gender is not a factor of the amount of respect or what a person can do. There
should be no stereotype based on a person’s gender. We need to be the light for
others in order for them to open their hearts and mind, in order to acknowledge
and feel the worth of every gender. Respect and empowerment is for everybody,
everywhere.
