Araw Ng Kagitingan, Appreciation To The Ones That Fought As One

Araw ng Kagitingan is a national and regular holiday in the Philippines, as it commemorates the Fall of Bataan back during the World War. Many brave souls fought during the war, where they battled with blood and sweat. This historic day marks the greatness of the fighters who defended the country against the invaders. Thousands of lives were lost during this dark chapter in our history, where they gave everything, including their life, in order to claim the freedom of our country. As a way to remember the brave souls who fought hard, “The Fall of Bataan” serves as a constant symbol of the Filipino’s bravery and patriotism.

Our country has a lot of dark history that it went through in order to stand independently on its own today. It went through many invasions, and had many wars to defend itself. Araw ng Kagitingan is a special place in history, as it contains unimaginable events behind it. Thousands of people died during these horrible times, and their sacrifices are something to be proud of. This kind of courage should never be forgotten, especially how their bravery led to the country’s freedom in the end. During the war, Filipinos fought a war that was never theirs in the first place. They were merely dragged into a huge mess, and was left with a choice to either surrender, or fight back strong enemies. Despite backing off and doing so, Filipinos stood strong and fought hard. They had to fight for the greed of the enemies. Families had to be separated, men and soldiers had to hold a gun despite the shaking of their hands. They had to shut their fears by force just to fight back, and that is something that should be respected: Fighting despite the fear. We are lucky we didn’t live during the time of war like this, and we could only imagine how hard it was for them. The aftermath of war is sealed in our society. Even with the thousands of Filipino lives gone during the war, the ones who survived still had it hard. They are burdened with this fear and conflicting memories inside of them. For the last more than 70 years that passed since the Fall of Bataan, it is still echoing in the air in the country. They are given a celebration to commemorate their brave souls, a commemoration that is not only felt in the country, but to the whole world. They are served with monuments for their great sacrifices, which is both a reminder of their bravery and patriotism, as well as a reminder for us to continue to be brave like them. This is the reason why “Araw ng Kagitingan” is such a memorable day, for the brave souls who fought during The Fall of Bataan. The lingering feeling of proudness and patriotism of the people, the love for their country, their brave souls and pure hearts that are willing to risk and sacrifice their lives for the good of the country. Now that, is something that should always be held dearly and remembered.

Araw ng Kagitingan is a constant reminder of the past, but also for our future. It is a memory of the people who fought and sacrificed for our country and the state that we are living at today. And this, is also a reminder for the future, that bravery will help you conquer even the biggest threat and fear that you may face. This is an important day, especially for the Filipinos, which should be cherished constantly. A day that will always be held close to every Filipinos heart, as well as the country.
