Independence Day, Showcases The Country's Freedom And How We Fought For Our Way

 


          Independence and freedom are what each and every country deserves, as they are their own country with their own people and traits, belonging to nothing but themselves. In attaining and grabbing freedom, the Philippines had to go through war and fought blood with blood in order to protect its people and declare freedom once and for all. Looking back at the history of the Philippines, it is heart-wrenching to witness what our heroes and people had to go through just to give our country its freedom and independence it has today.


          The road to Philippine’s independence was long and miserable. The Philippines was colonized by the Spanish in the latter part of the 16th century. Multiple countries tried to seize the Philippines, which includes countries such as Japan, Spain and United States of America. During the long and almost endless years of countries taking turns in seizing the Philippines in hopes in making it theirs, many wars broke. With this, countless of lives have been taken, the people were miserable. The country and its people was controlled by those who overpowered them. The country wasn’t able to do anything on their own, and was only told what the leaders and higher ups told them or wanted them to do. Even so, the Filipino people never gave up and fought for their rights. Names of those heroes who sacrificed are remembered; those who fought through war, encouraged their fellow Filipinos, and opened their eyes to see what is truly happening in the country. The Philippines gained independence from Spain on June 1898, the day when the country fought and won for its freedom, which is why Filipino Independence Day takes place every June 12th. On that same day back at 1898, the Philippines flag was raised to declare its independence by General Emilio Aguinaldo after her issued and marked the date as a proclamation of independence. This day is such an important aspect of the country and its people. This is the day when they finally achieved their freedom, after fighting for years for it. This is such a significant even in our country’s history as this serves as a remembrance to all of those heroes and people who sacrificed and fought hard at war. This is a way to show the people’s hard work in achieving and maintaining the country’s independence, an appreciation to their nationalism in the citizens, as well as celebrating the culture and tradition of its people. During Independence Day, the Philippine flag is raised everywhere around the country, the love for the country are shown in each individual Filipino. This day is not only commemorating the past, but celebrating what we have achieved in the present, as well as what we can do and preserve in the future for the betterment of our country.


          Independence and freedom, this is what our people fought for. Our country that represents us Filipinos, who are deserving for the independence we have today. Independence Day is a day where every Filipino rejoice and celebrate the day when our country became a free one. Such an important day to relish the past, celebrate the present, and plan for the future. With this, the country’s independence should be treated with respect, as this was achieved by hard work and sacrifice from our people, who also wanted the best for both the country and Filipinos.
