Kannawidan Festival Engraved In The Hearts Of Natives, Carried Out By Their Never Ending Beliefs
Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is a festival in the Province of Ilocos Dur commemoraying the seperation of the two Ilocos provinces (Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte) in 1818. It is an annual celebration that is held every year that lasts from the last week of January, up until the first week of February. This celebration holds a deep connection to the Ilocanoes, as this is the time where they showcase their local products, performances, and their overall love for the province. This festival has a great impact to the people as it shows their roots and lines in the province. Kannawidan is a variant of the Ilocano word "tawid" meaning heritage or inheritance. This is why this festival holds a special place in Ilocanoes hearts as this is a way for the people to preserve the inheritance and culture of the place
For the past 2 centuries, the province continue with its glorious past, reminiscing its glory and beauty ad the people preserve the beauty and importance of it all.
